A: R femoral head fracture appears slightly worse. Based on records, bird is spending a lot of time laying down but still stands and backs away without falling over. If fracture continues to worsen or does not heal with cage rest/conservative management, may need to consider surgery such as femoral head osteotomy.

P: Repeat x-rays early next week. Monitor mobility, use of R leg.

O: Very small amount of bruising along the ventral R elbow with a superficial abrasion, mild bruising at ventral R carpus. No bruising seen on knee. Popping felt at the R coxofemoral joint, dorsal aspect of femoral joint feels swollen/possibly displaced dorsally. Green bruise on L side of caudal spine. Placed bird on ground, bird falls to the L and avoids putting full weight on R leg. Reviewed x-rays: can see a partial fracture at the proximal femoral head, coxofemoral joint looks bright as well.

O: Noted mild anisocoria. Very unstable on feet - more than is typical for baby. Slow, but gradually accepted HF. HF 76g rat and pigeon with meds on food. Placed donut in cage.

S: Laying sternal at back with legs out behind when checked on. Clacked and stood when prodded, but fell back onto hocks right away. Hock sitting, leaning against wall, and clacking for catch. Vocal for initial part of palpation and then seemed to zone out for rest of exam. Ataxic when tried to walk away when put back, kept stumbling to L and had to lean against wall to stabilize. Clacked for HF in cage. Swallowed when pieces placed in mouth but otherwise did not try and take pieces.

O: Checked over for punctures from hawk altercation. No punctures found but found bruising/swelling over caudal spine, R knee, and R elbow. Unabsorbed fluids over abdomen so did not give more. TU Drew blood from R leg. Gave 0.39cc meloxicam PO. HF in cage with camo until full. Ate all 78g of venison and rat.

A: Ataxia likely related to spinal bruising. L leg seems weaker than R when trying to walk. Also seems to be suffering from head trauma with alternating between clacking and spaced out. PCV decreased

P: Rx meloxicam and gabapentin. Give Vit B for 3d and Iron for 1 then recheck blood in 1 week.

S: Finder reported hearing a thud on roof. Saw bird fall from tree to roof to ground as two hawks flew away. Suspected hawk interaction with baby. Baby presented standing in crate with eyes open. No clacking or significant reaction at all until initially caught, then resumed shocked mentation.

O: Performed intake exam with fundic and rads. Gave fluids. Placed on heating pad in ICU.

Initial treatment: 50cc LRS SQ split between both inguinal areas. Placed on low heating pad in ICU.

A: QAR~shocky. No significant physical abnormalities found on initial exam or radiographs. Bird's mentation is very irregular. Fair prognosis pending any development of internal trauma from fall - currently no indication. May need some time to recover from stress. A good candidate for renesting if no problems develop.

P: HF until full BID, drop the rest. 4/13 - blood, fecal. Retake xray (plop?) to look for signs of internal hemorrhage, etc. 4/14 - vet check. Vitals SID until stable. rx fluids. Monitor mentation. Continue monitoring for puncture wounds.
